Testing organisation delivers convincing sustainability performance
DEKRA Honoured as a European Climate Leader
26 Jun 2026In recognition of its progress in sustainability, the global testing and certification organization DEKRA has been included for the first time in the list of Europe’s Climate Leaders. In their survey, the business newspaper Financial Times and the data provider Statista recognize European companies that are making a special effort to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
According to the Financial Times and Statista, DEKRA cut its climate emissions by more than 50 percent between 2019 and 2024, which equates to an annual reduction of around 17 percent. This achievement has led to DEKRA being included for the first time in the list of Europe’s Climate Leaders.
Sustainability is a fundamental principle of DEKRA’s business operations as a testing organization. The overarching goal is to ensure the company’s long-term success while meeting its social and environmental responsibilities. To this end, DEKRA supports the aims of the UN Global Compact and contributes to many different standards and initiatives, such as the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). DEKRA has had a validated SBTi 1.5-degree target since 2024. The company also holds an Ecovadis Platinum Medal and received an above-average A rating from CDP.
The DEKRA Climate Impact Program represents a key action for enhancing climate change mitigation. Introduced by DEKRA in 2025, it is an impact-oriented approach to corporate climate responsibility that seeks to foster holistic climate resilience. The company is focused on the consistent decarbonization of its own operations using a carbon pricing mechanism and on providing targeted support for external climate change mitigation and adaptation projects in partnership with established organizations.
The Program combines the science-based 1.5-degree reduction target with financial support for external projects implemented by partners such as UNICEF, WWF, NABU, and Bergwaldprojekt (an international organization focused on forest ecosystems). All support for the funded actions is impact-oriented, and they are measured continuously by their contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
