Aftersales Specialist Consultant – Workshop Efficiency

About the role
DEKRA Automotive Ltd is recruiting an experienced Aftersales Specialist Consultant to deliver a workshop efficiency improvement programme across an automotive NSC Retailer network. The role focuses on improving workshop profitability by strengthening resource utilisation, operational efficiency and service activity, with clear, measurable outcomes.
You will be one of two consultants covering the UK, with your delivery footprint focused on the Midlands to the South of England.
What you will be doing
You will work directly with Retailer leadership and aftersales teams to diagnose performance, agree improvement actions, and support delivery. Key activities include:
· Completing a structured Retailer diagnostic using defined questions and evidence gathering.
· Producing clear diagnostic summaries and an evidence-based gap analysis for management review.
· Agreeing priority actions with Retailer leadership and building practical, Retailer-specific action plans.
· Supporting operational improvements across booking, workshop control, preparation, and customer handover/collection processes.
· Providing targeted support to Retailers, adapting the support path based on diagnostic findings.
· Tracking progress against agreed measures and providing structured updates after each session, including escalation where performance drops or actions stall.
What we are looking for (essential)
· Strong experience in automotive aftersales / workshop operations within a Retailer environment (or equivalent network role).
· Proven ability to use performance data and operational insight to deliver improvement in workshop results (efficiency, utilisation, productivity, workflow control).
· Confident communicator who can influence at all levels (including Aftersales Managers, Workshop Controllers and Senior Leadership).
· Strong written communication and report quality, including clear session summaries and progress updates.
· Comfortable working independently and managing a travel-heavy role across a defined region.
Desirable
· Experience supporting service marketing activity (planning, budgeting, activation and review).
· Understanding of booking-centre / call-centre processes and how they impact appointment conversion and workshop loading.
How success will be measured
You will be expected to deliver measurable improvement against programme measures such as:
· Workshop efficiency measures (utilisation, productivity, efficiency using agreed definitions).
· Diagnostic/workflow measures (lead time, first-time-fix, rework).
· Booking and Vehicle Health Check funnel performance where applicable.
· A strong focus on return on investment for both the programme and participating Retailers is essential.

You will be responsible for providing aftersales coaching to the DTUK network, delivering expertise in aftersales process delivery and management in line with DTUK service processes.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Completing thorough, accurate vehicle inspections in line with company standards.
· Producing detailed, unambiguous inspection reports using company templates.

· Travelling within your designated area and occasionally beyond when necessary.
About You
· We’re looking for skilled technical professionals with:
· A minimum of 7 years’ experience in formal vehicle maintenance, servicing, or MOT.
· City & Guilds Level 3 or HNC/HND equivalent qualification (IMI or IRTE membership desirable).
· Strong customer service, communication, and organisational skills.
· The ability to write clear, detailed, and accurate reports.
· A methodical, analytical approach to inspections and decision making.
You must also have:
· A clean UK driving licence, your own transport with business use insurance
· Your own tools, and equipment in good working order.
· A limited company with Public Liability and Professional Indemnity and Employers Liability insurance
