Do you inspect Cat S and N vehicles?

DEKRA automotive Limited inspect Cat N (Non-Structural), but we are unable to inspect Cat S (Structural) vehicles

Do you inspect imports?

Yes. If the import is registered in the UK it is recognised in the UK. The car data check will only go back to the date of registration in England.

What do I need to advise the seller before I book an inspection?

DEKRA Automotive will contact the owner of the vehicle and advise the requirements for the inspection to take place.

What documents are required for checking relating to the inspection?

V5, MOT Certificate and Service History if available.

Do I have to be present at the inspection?

it is not a requirement for you to be present during the inspection

What is the difference between the types of inspections?

DEKRA Automotive will contact the owner of the vehicle and advise the requirements for the inspection to take place.

Will the engineer provide a verbal report?

The engineer will telephone with a verbal report normally between 5.00 pm and 8.00pm on the day of the inspection.

Can you check the engine?

We only provide a visual inspection and cannot dismantle any parts. If dismantling is required for an Engineer's Report this will need to be carried out by your chosen garage prior to the inspection. Within the Gold and Silver, we provide a code’s analysis via a diagnostics unit.

Does DEKRA Automotive Limited can you carry out inspections in my area?

DEKRA Automotive Limited only perform inspections in mainland England, Scotland, Wales and Engineer Reports in Northern Ireland. We do not perform pre/post purchase inspections in Ireland / Northern Ireland

Why do DEKRA automotive need the Vehicle Registration Number before proceeding with the booking?

Part of the service is a vehicle document check that provides a report into the history of the car ensuring that it has not previously been classed as a write off or stolen etc. This can only be done with the provision of the Vehicle Registration Number.

Can I book an appointment time for the engineer before paying?

All bookings must be paid in advance and the most convenient appointment time will be arranged with you by one of our booking team

Why can I only book an appointment between 8:30 and 14:30

DEKRA Automotive Limited will only carry out inspections during daylight hours, this is to ensure the highest quality inspections.

Can I contact the engineer?

The booking will be confirmed by email and will advise the engineer name and contact details in the event you need to contact them.

Can I pay by cheque?

DEKRA Automotive Limited do not accept cheques as payment for services

Are there any cards that are not accepted?

We do not accept American Express

What is the refund Policy?

In the event of cancellation, a charge of £35 will be retained. Should that cancellation take place within 24 hours of the time of the arranged inspection the amount retained will be increased to £78. The balance of your original payment will then be refunded to your credit card account.
